Passive Causatives: Have

  • Passive Causatives: Have

  • We can also use have with the passive causative

    subject + have + object + past participle
    - Sara has her groceries delivered.
    (Sara doesn't deliver the groceries, someone else does it for her.)

    Be careful! In a normal sentence, the subject does the action. In the causative, someone else does the action.
    -Sara delivers groceries. = Sara performs the action.
    -Sara has her groceries delivered. = Someone else performs the action.
