- Remember! There are two types of causative sentences. Both types show that the subject causes someone else to do an action for them.-Causative focuses on the person that does the action.-Passive causative focuses on the object that receives the action.

Causatives Passive Causatives They got a babysitter to look after their kids. They got their kids looked after by a babysitter. She had the builders take down the wall in her kitchen. She had the wall taken down in her kitchen. I am getting the tailor to shorten my new dress. I am getting my new dress shortened.
