Causatives: Get
- The causative shows that the subject of the sentence causes or asks someone to do an action for them. The most common verb used with the causative is get.subject + get + object*+ infinitive (to + base verb)-She gets an accountant to help her set up a monthly budget.(She doesn't set up the budget by herself. The accountant does it.)*Remember! The object in a causative sentence is the person who does the action.

General sentences Sentences with the causative 'get' The tailor shortened my dress. I got the tailor to shorten my dress. The plumber will fix our toilet. We will get the plumber to fix our toilet. The bank teller is counting her money. She's getting the bank teller to count her money. - *Be careful! You can use get with the causative in many tenses. Use got for past simple, am/is/are getting for present continuous tense, and will get for future simple tense.
