Adjectives vs. Adverbs

  • Adjectives vs. Adverbs

  • Sometimes, it's difficult to decide when to use adverbs that answer the question how. Sense verbs often cause the most confusion between adverbs and adjectives.

Jenny feels happy about winning the race.
    J̶̶̶e̶̶̶n̶̶̶n̶̶̶y̶̶̶ ̶̶̶f̶̶̶e̶̶̶e̶̶̶l̶̶̶s̶̶̶ ̶̶̶h̶a̶p̶p̶i̶l̶y̶ ̶̶̶a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶̶̶w̶i̶n̶n̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ r̶a̶c̶e̶.
(We use an adjective in this sentence because Jenny is not actively feeling something with her hands.)

*Remember! Sense verbs include feel, smell, taste, etc.
