Present Perfect Continuous

  • Present Perfect Continuous

  • Present perfect continuous is a tense that connects the past and the present (now).

There are two main uses for present perfect continuous:
    1. Continuing actions
    2. Recent actions with results in the present

For present perfect continuous, use the present perfect* form of verb 'be' and a present participle.

    have/has been + present participle
-I have been waiting all day.
-She has been waiting all day.
  • Contractions: Form contractions with the subject and have/has in present perfect continuous.
-I have been waiting all day. > I've been waiting all day.
-She has been waiting all day. > She's been waiting all day.
  • *Remember! Present perfect is have/has and a past participle.  The past participle of verb 'be' is been.
