Relative Clauses
- Relative clauses* are added to main clauses to provide additional information that is necessary to understand the meaning of the sentence. Relative clauses begin with a relative pronoun or relative adverb.The apartment that Sam bought is near public transportation.(There are many apartments near public transportation, the relative clause that Sam bought shows a specific apartment.)

They want an apartment that is pet friendly. He's the man to whom I sold my house. That's the house where Jack grew up. The architecture is why we want to buy this house. - *Remember! There are two types of clauses: dependent and independent. A relative clause is a type of dependent clause because it cannot function as a sentence by itself.
