Passive Voice: Be and By
- A form of the verb be is always used in passive voice.-be in present tense = am, is, are-be in past tense = was, weresubject + be + past participle-The keys are taken.-The boxes were packed.Add a by phrase* to show who completed the action.-The keys are taken by the tenant.-The boxes were packed by the movers.

I am told about a house for sale by my friend. I was told about a house for sale by my friend. We are told about an apartment to rent by my sister. We were told about an apartment to rent by my sister. - *Remember! Some passive sentences do not have a by phrase to show who/what completes the action.
