• Adjectives are words that describe a noun or pronoun in more detail.
  

  
  

  There are two rules for adjective placement:
  1. An adjective can go before the noun it modifies.

  -Matt has an expensive car.

  2. Adjectives can also go after linking and sense* verbs. 

  -Her house is big.

  -The cake smells delicious.

  
  

  *Remember! Common linking verbs include be, become, and seem. Common sense verbs include taste, smell, and feel.

• Jill wore a beautiful dress to the party last night.	We stayed at an expensive hotel during our vacation.
