Want vs. Would Like (In English Language)

  • Want vs. Would Like

  • Read and listen. Listen again and repeat.
  • Want and would like have the same meaning.  They both express a desire or wish for something.

    want/would like + noun 
    want/would like + to + base verb

    Use want or would like for requests and offers.
    Would like is more polite than want.
  • want a cup of tea. (Request)would like a cup of tea. (Request)
    Do you want a cup of tea? (Offer)Would you like a cup of tea? (Offer)
    want to drink some tea. (Request) would like to drink some tea. (Request)
