• Use used to to talk about something that was true in the past, but isn't true now.

  
  

  used to + base verb

  
  

  I used to play tennis when I was younger.  

  (I played tennis in the past, but I don't play tennis now.)

  That restaurant used to be a bank.
  

  (That building was a bank in the past, but it is a restaurant now.)

  
  

  You can also use used to with adverbs of frequency.*

  I always used to go out for dinner on Fridays.

  She used to walk to school sometimes.	People used to ride horses before cars were invented.

• *Remember! Use adverbs of frequency before the main verb.  Some can go at the beginning or end of a sentence.
