- Use used to to talk about something that was true in the past, but isn't true now.used to + base verbI used to play tennis when I was younger.(I played tennis in the past, but I don't play tennis now.)That restaurant used to be a bank.(That building was a bank in the past, but it is a restaurant now.)You can also use used to with adverbs of frequency.*I always used to go out for dinner on Fridays.
