Third Conditional
- Use the third conditional for impossible situations in the past. You can also use the third conditional for regrets about past actions. If + past perfect, + would/could + have + past participle-If she had studied more, she would have passed the exam.(This shows an impossible situation because she can't study more. She already took the exam.)-If I had studied more, I would have passed the exam.(This shows regret because the person is upset they didn't study more and failed the exam.)
