Separable vs Inseparable

  • Separable vs Inseparable 

  • Read and listen. Listen again and repeat.
  • Phrasal verbs can be separable or inseparable

    With separable phrasal verbs, the object can go after the phrasal verb OR in the middle of the phrasal verb.
    Pick up the toys. (After the phrasal verb)
    Pick the toys up.(In the middle of the phrasal verb)

    With inseparable phrasal verbs, the object is ALWAYS after the phrasal verb. 
    Look after the dog.
    Look the dog after.

  • I'll put the dishes away after dinner.I'll put away the dishes after dinner.
    Can you turn the radio upCan you turn up the radio?
