Negative Present Perfect Continuous

  • Negative Present Perfect Continuous

  • Use not for negative statements in the present perfect continuous tense.  Add not between have/has and been.

    Have/has + not + been + present participle
    -I have not been sleeping well.

  • Ryan has not been coming to work. We haven'tbeen going out recently.
    He has not been eating healthy foods. It hasn't* been raining
  • *Remember! You can combine have/has and not for negative contractions.
    -He has not been working. > He hasn't been working
    -They have not been working. > They haven't been working.

    It is not common to contract the subject and have/has.
    -He’s not been working.
