If Statements
- Read and listen. Listen again and repeat.
- If statements are part of conditional sentences.Conditional sentences have two parts.1. A conditional clause (if statement). This describes a condition or possible situation.2. The consequence or result of the condition or situation. If it rains, we will get wet.-If it rains = conditional clause-we will get wet = the result
If I eat peanuts, I get sick. I get a headache if I don't drink coffee.* If the weather improves, we will go to the park. We will need a first aid kit if there is an emergency.
- *Remember! An if statement can go at the beginning or end of a sentence.Use a comma (,) after if statements at the beginning of a sentence.
