Present Continuous

  • Present Continuous

  • Use the present continuous for actions/events that are happening at the present time (now).

    subject + be + present participle
    Tom is riding his bicycle.

    Use the present continuous with not for actions that are not happening at the present time (now).

    subject + be + not + present participle
    It is not raining now./It isn't raining now.
  • Alexis waiting at a traffic light.The studentsarelearning a new language. 
    The wateris notboiling.Theyaren'twalking on the sidewalk.
  • Be careful! Always use not between the verb "be" and the present participle.
    She is not watching TV.
